On a car chase last month, it only looked right when I ‘matched the shutter angle’ to the plate (180°) and enabled deformation blur on the tires, not just transform blur. If render time spikes, cap motion samples and send a clean motion-vector AOV for comp; rolling-shutter emulation in the camera can sell speed without extra blur. Before that tweak, it felt like the car was buttered.

Caveat: clamp or normalize the velocity pass on fast spinners or they’ll smear to infinity — do you tweak per‑object scales or in comp?

One thing that’s bitten me: plates at 23.976 with a “180°” note don’t match if your renderer assumes 24fps; I set shutter time explicitly in seconds (0.5/23.976) and make sure velocity is meters/sec so 3D blur lines up. @haroldVee touches the camera side, but if you’re locked to 24 in CG, a tiny time-warp on the plate to true 24 often reads cleaner than fudging shutter angle.
